Built on the UnitSpace BCR Server platform, pre-packaged UnitSpace data services enable out-of-the-box data sharing and synchronization, complete with data format conversion and attribute-level access control granularity.

Using the integrated BPEL4WS (Business Process Execution Language for Web Services) engine, users can create process services, which route data between UnitSpace services and external applications, execute transactions and integrate services across the extended enterprise to implement event-driven business logic. A BPEL process can be instantiated into a new service by different IT managers, replicating a process capability that would operate on a different set of data and service endpoints.

By the virtue of being based on the J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) standard, users can extend the functionality of UnitSpace BCR Server with their own service implementations. Custom services can be programmed as J2EE components, leveraging widely available software engineering skills and development tools.
