UnitSpace BCR Server comes loaded with pre-packaged data and process services, which are flexible enough to support any service logic. However UnitSpace BCR Server also includes an extension mechanism for developing and deploying custom services, programmed in Java.

Such custom services may be useful to provide better integration with existing application infrastructure, pulling data out of submitting it for processing to legacy systems in real time. They also provide a way to keep the built-in repository up to date for data services.

UnitSpace BCR Server supports code re-use by allowing multiple instantiation for custom service implementations. Any user endowed with appropriate management privileges can offer a service based on any available implementation. All management functions available for data and process services apply equally to custom services.
