Process services represent the most flexible way of aggregating capabilities exposed by other services available on the network and repackaging them into a more coarse-grained Web service interface. Source services' capabilities thus become orchestrated - either synchronously or asynchronously - into a process, which itself forms a new capability that can also be orchestrated. UnitSpace BCR Server uses OASIS standard BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) to represent such executable processes, which can be visually constructed using the accompanying BPEL Designer tool.

A single process definition can be used numerous times to create individual service endpoints, each owned, managed and provided on behalf of a designated provider. Process services allow pre-defined business procedures to be easily replicated across the enterprise and extended by different users to their respective constituencies.

For example, a selling service implemented as a BPEL process can be instantiated by any number of B2B trading hub's members, integrating the service with the member's respective order-taking and notification services. Each instance of the service, attributed in the UDDI service registry to the specified provider, will have its own authorized users and tracking logs.
